Identity

2018 AP Studio Art: 2D-Design and On-going Personal Project

Identity, as I've defined it, is the psychological identification one holds of themself. I chose this concept because I wanted to reflect and express a personal struggle of mine: identity confusion. Identity confusion is a common trend in today’s generation of youth because of societal standards and media that have influenced us to be critical of ourselves. In turn, we’re incapable of expressing ourselves in an unadulterated manner for fear of judgement. In this portfolio, I explored the depths of which identity has been compromised.

I submitted a subset of twelve photos from this collection to the 2018 AP Studio Art Exam, receiving a score of 5. Since then, I have continued to make additions and hope to curate a sizable collection to represent a more accurate depiction of today's youth and its culture.
